THE SLOW MO GUYS

I like most of what they do.

They record something happening and then they SLOW the motion way down to be able to see almost EVERYTHING that happened.

It's like taking a magnifying glass to see a still object -- you can see more detail.

Here, they are taking a CD and spinning it around so fast that it shatters.

EXCEL

I found a YouTube video that talks about using the function "VLOOKUP" to link workbooks.

One of my classmates in Excel 2013 asked about using functions to link workbooks, so I will refer her to this video.

SCRIPTURES!

Hey!  Since this blog is mainly for me to refer back to when I want to find something either cool, interesting or wonderful, I'm going to put some scriptures here.

This first one is D&C 137.

This is where Joseph Smith saw the Celestial Kingdom of God, the gates thereof, the blazing throne of God, with Heavenly Father and Jesus sitting there.

The Celestial Kingdom

This next scripture is from the New Testament in the Bible.  It's in Revelation 21:10.  St. John the Devine talks about seeing the holy city, New Jerusalem, descending out of heaven, and he describes what it looks like.  He says that the foundation of the walls of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones -- sapphire, emerald, etc......

I love reading about things like that.  It is breath-taking and amazing and fills me with happiness, excitement and hope.

New Jerusalem

The words they use to describe what they saw are probably not even adequate, and PALE in comparison to what they actually saw.  As "E" says in "The Incredibles" movie -- "Words are USELESS darling!  Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, Gobble..... That is why I SHOW you.".

I know that there are MANY things that I have seen -- various sunsets, rainbows, rivers, the ocean, old buildings, etc....., and even my camera cannot capture what I saw.

BYU-I Devotionals and Speeches

Today, I listened to Jayson Kunzler speak at the Tuesday Devotional at BYU-Idaho.

His talk was about having a testimony of Joseph Smith.

I look forward to when his talk is posted on BYU-Idaho's webpage, which should happen soon.

For now, I just have the link to the web page where it WILL be linked.

When I see the his talk posted, I will post it on my other blog, "Createdhethem".

This link here, will still be a good link for when I want to search for other speakers' talks.

PINKING SHEARS

We just got some OLD pinking shears (in good condition) from my husband's mother.  The instructions said that they can be used to "finish" fabric.

I had never known how pinking shears could be used to "finish" fabric, so I started looking for information about pinking shears.

First, I'm going to put a link to a video about how to help your sharpened pinking shears work smoothly.   : )

Wax Paper folded over 3 times

I found this YouTube video, and the lady says that in the olden days, before sergers, people used pinking shears.  She says you can cut the material either before or after sewing.

Here's another way of finishing a seam -- by using the pinking shears, in addition to sewing a straight stitch on an edge:

This next link is to someone's blog about sewing.  Her blog is called, "Did You Make That?".   : )

I mainly like the link for the over 50 comments about pinking!

CAPRESE PASTA SALAD

Hi!  Today I had some Caprese Pasta Salad, but I didn't know that THAT was the name of it until now!

I went looking for a mozzarella, basil, grape tomato, pasta dish recipe, and found a ton of "Caprese" recipes!

This one that I'll post here is from Pioneer Woman, where (a few years ago), I found a really good shortening/butter pie crust recipe.  I can't find it on her site anymore, but I have it written down somewhere....

Anyway -- This recipe has a "reduced" balsamic vinegar in it.  It's a "thicker" vinegar.  It sounds good.   : )  She said that the vinegar is good on steak, too.

Anyway -- it's a START!

The dish I had today was different:

It had cold pasta, put into a pan with olive oil and minced garlic, and tossed with little mozzarella balls, salt, pepper, cut basil and sliced grape tomatoes.

It was SO good!!!!

For the pasta dish, you could add either add cold chicken, and serve it like that, OR you could make it into a hot dish and melt fresh parmesan over it...

But -- for just a plain ol' mozzarella, tomato, basil dish, here's the Pioneer Woman's recipe!

In that little "search" box in the top left corner of this blog page, you can type any topic, then press "enter" and if I've written about it, it'll show up!

I typed "song", and 3 of my posts about songs showed up.   : )

I love how magnets work.  I love learning about how they work.

This YouTube "History TV" video below is about magnets.  It's about 45 minutes long (with about 4 or 5 commercials throughout).
