Venus (the planet)

It is referred to as the morning and evening star because it shows up just before dawn and also shows up just as evening comes.

I like this picture from the Wikipedia page, which explains that Venus is always the brightest planet or star in the sky and that Jupiter is the next-brightest planet or star.
